Breath of Life Preparatory Academy is an excellent academic and training institution. We are  committed to providing an environment where scholars will go beyond what is expected.  The training the Eaglets receive at BOLPA will prepare them to be leaders and prepare them to accomplish their goals. BOLPA scholars participate in daily classroom devotional time, grade appropriate Bible study which is incorporated into classroom time and a weekly chapel program.

BOLPA is an associate of the Tennessee Association of Non-Public Academic Schools as required by the Department of Education.  The Prep Academy operates under a Category IV school which allows our scholars to transfer among public schools or non-public schools in Tennessee with Category I or II status without the loss of credit for completed work and Category IV school, which is a private school that is operated by a church, and is exempt from regulations regarding faculty, textbooks, and curriculum.  The official school colors are navy blue and white.

Our Upper Grades Include:

​KINDERGARTEN

Our kindergarteners are taught special blends and how to sound out and breakdown longer words. We also study advanced sight words with fluency and accuracy increased to the First Grade level or higher. Additionally, long vowels are added to other phonics ruled. In mathematics we study more advanced addition and subtraction, telling time (hour and half hour), counting coins, ordinal numbers and counting up to 200. Handwriting begins with teaching cursive. With our  science and social studies, we explore God's World teaching basic geography and U.S. history as the presidents and American symbols, and basic scientific concepts such as magnetism, animal classification and more. In Computer, we establish basic skills as click and drag and typing begins in K-5.

​1ST GRADE

In First Grade, our scholars continue to improve their reading and phonics skills more complex special blends and a focus on fluency and complex comprehension. Students also receive an introduction to syllable breakdown. Handwriting and grammar will concentrate on how to connect letters in cursive and creative writing along with early sentence diagramming. Spelling words begin at this stage as well. In mathematics, we focus on more advance addition and subtraction using multiplication, graphing, and early fractions, place value, odd/even numbers and counting to 1,000. In Science, we continue exploring God's world but also introducing the scientific process with experiments exploring of friction and gravity. In Social Studies, we will explore other cultures with Abeka's Children Around the World Series. Computer skills are also continued to build computer literacy.

​2nd GRADE

In Second Grade, no subject is untouched—Language Arts, Arithmetic, History, Science/Health, Art, and Bible are explored on a daily basis. Second grade takes the basics from first grade and continues to build on them, applying knowledge on a higher level. Coordinated with thorough instruction in phonics, the foundational grammar concepts of nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, word usage, and sentence analysis are now introduced in an age-appropriate way. Coordinated with a foundation of essential facts, arithmetic introduces estimation, rounding, metric measures, fractions, and exercises on determining change. Computer skills are also continued to build computer literacy.

​3rd GRADE

In 3rd Grade, scholars will gain a lifelong enthusiasm for reading as they learn to read using the Abeka phonics-first approach. You’ll see your child master phonics and watch their reading comprehension skills grow as they read delightful stories with character-building themes. As their reading and spelling skills improve, creative writing becomes a natural outflow as they organize thoughts into sentences and apply their grammar knowledge in order to communicate. Learning and practicing the proper formation of letters and the correct spacing between letters, words, and sentences helps perfect writing skills for a good overall appearance. Learning computation skills, problem-solving skills, and how to apply arithmetic concepts exercises their reasoning and thinking abilities. In science, health, and history, and geography, they'll learn about God’s world and begin to appreciate it more as they venture into a biographical study of people who made an impact on America. Most importantly, studying the lives of real people in the Bible will help him learn how to respond to situations in their own life. Finally, art rounds out the academic program.
